 전혀 새로운 유인 항공기의 처녀 비행. This is the first piloted flight of a multicopter - the child's toy that has well and truly grown up. 멀티콥터가 사람을 태우고 처음 비행하는 모습이다. 애들 장난감이 엄청나게 발전 한 것.
Brainchild of e-volo in southern Germany, one of its designers, Stephan Wolf, says its much easier to operate than a conventional helicopter. 독일 남부에서 ‘이-볼로(e-volo)’의 개발에 참여한 사람 중 한 명인 슈테판 볼프(Stephan Wolf) 씨는 이 멀티콥터가 기존 헬리콥터보다 작동하기 쉽다고 주장한다. (SOUNDBITE) (English) MULTICOPTER DEVELOPER, STEPHAN WOLF, SAYING: "A helicopter has adjustable blades, here we have fixed pitch blades, so there is nothing mechanical, it's very simple, so that's the main difference to a helicopter." [슈테판 볼프/멀티콥터 개발자] “일반 헬리콥터에는 각을 조절하는 날개깃들이 장착돼 있지만 멀티콥터는 그것들을 고정 시켰다. 따라서 기계적인 작동이 없다. 매우 간단한 구조다. 이게 일반 헬리콥터와의 가장 큰 차이점이다.” With 16 rotors, driven by electric motors and steered by a standard remote controller, the machine offers more layers of safety than a normal aircraft. 전기 모터로 구동되는 총 16개의 회전자(프로펠러)를 가졌고 표준 원격조종기로 조종하는 이 멀티콥터는 일반 항공기보다 더 많은 단계의 안전장치를 갖추고 있다. (SOUNDBITE) (English) MULTICOPTER DEVELOPER, STEPHAN WOLF, SAYING: "What is special about this is that we have used more propellers than usually, because when some propellers fail or motors fail, you can still land safely.Same with the control devices here. They are redundant and if one fails, you can still safely land." [슈테판 볼프/멀티콥터 개발자] “‘이-볼보’가 특별한 점은 일반적인 수준보다 더 많은 프로펠러를 사용한다는 점이다. 일부 프로펠러나 전기 모터가 고장나더라도 안전하게 착륙할 수 있게 하기 위해서다. 이 조종 장치도 마찬가지다. 어느 게 고장나 쓸모없게 되더라도 탑승자는 안전하게 착륙할 수 있다.”
With their maiden manned-flight safely behind them, the developers are now working on a commercial version - aimed at the urban transport market. 처녀 비행이 안전하게 마무리된 가운데 개발자들은 이제 상업화에 몰두하고 있다. 도시교통시장 진출이 목표다. Maybe you have heart that in Sao Paulo in Brazil, they have many helicopters flying there. Only people who can afford it, can use it. So it would be affordable for anyone." [슈테판 볼프/멀티콥터 개발자] “예를 도시 상공을 운항하는 항공택시로 사용되는 것을 상상할 수 있다. 아마 브라질 상파울루가 적합하지 않을까. 그곳에선 수많은 헬기가 운항되지만 형편이 넉넉한 사람만 쓸 수 있다. 그래서 멀티콥터는 누구나 이용할 수 있는 합리적인 가격이 될 것이다.”
